Feature Fridays

Welcome to our first Feature Friday series, a series where I share with you some new weekly favorites that have made me smile throughout the week!

Zodiac Animals
Continuing with the Chinese New Year theme, Zodiac animals play a huge role in the lunar calendar. The concept is very similar to our Zodiac signs, except this time we’re talking about animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit,  Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. The story of the Zodiac Animals goes that a race was organized by the Jade Emperor and the order of the animals were determined by the order of who crossed the finished line. There are many versions to this story, but this one is my favorite!

Fun Fact: I’m the Year of the Rooster!

Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice
This drink is certainly not new on the Starbucks menu, but is my classic go to winter drink. This drink is literally tastes like liquified apple pie and always satisfies my sweet tooth. The sweetness paired with the tartness of the apple is absolutely scrumptious and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs their sugar fix for the day.

Kumquat Lemon Bubble Tea
This citrusy but sweet drink is the most heartwarming drink on a gloomy day. Kumquat and lemon are both tart fruits, but mixed in with some honey and simple syrup – this makes such a great combination for a hot drink. Kumquat is also high in Vitamin C, so it’s a scrumptious and nutritious drink all in one! Yum!! My favorite place to visit to get this drink is Vivi’s Bubble Tea. It does also help that this place is all decked out in pink!

5 Fall Essentials + mini Summer Recap

Long time no blog!! It’s been literally months since I’ve blogged and it feels great to be back. Last time I wrote, I had decided to start my very first makeup challenge, where for 30 days I had to only use only certain makeup products in hope that I would finish the products (hit pan). Ummm….well, that did not work out at all, but I’ll save that for another post 😉

So before we move on to present day Fall, how was everyone’s Summer? Any new products or fashion favorite finds? My summer was full of summer floral dresses, summer tans, and summer bikinis.

And fast forwarding to present day – Fall is finally here (kind of). I say kind of, since if you’re from NYC, you would know the weather has been windy but still pretty warm on some days. Regardless though, Fall season is upon us and do you know what that means?? Wardrobe change! Bring out the long sleeve shirts and puffy vests, with a side of Pumpkin Spice Lattes please!

The past years, I’ve always been into lots and lots of flannel and plaid. However, I’ve just been really into more muted tones, one solid color, basic and simple outfits. So to get into the simple and classy Fall vibe, here are my 5 Fall Essentials:

Simple but fun long sleeve shirt

This is literally perfect to keep you warm on cooler days but still cool enough to keep you from melting like Olaf from Frozen. A great place to shop for these basic long sleeve shirts is H&M. They have a variety of colors and are super cheap for those on a clothing budget! My go-to long sleeve shirt is my “Cool as a Moose” shirt that I bought during my trip to Maine.

Puffy Vest

For an added layer of warmth for those who are forever cold, throw on a comfy puffy vest! I tend to go with a basic color like white, navy, or black so it’ll match all my clothes. If you tend to wear solid basic colors more often, feel free to play up your vest with a bright color or fun pattern! To find a great vest in all colors, I would recommend going to Uniqlo. (Just in time for Cyber Monday!) Their vests are super simple but have great quality to really keep you warm.

Gold Nail Polish

It’s the holiday season which means of course, we have to be extra and add some sparkles and glitter in our outfits! To still keep things simple but up the glam a bit, I always reach for my trusty bronze gold nail polish. Gold bronze goes with everything, especially during the holiday season. I’m super loyal to my OPI gold nail polish in Chestnut About You.

Statement Bag

An outfit isn’t complete without a good statement bag and Fall is literally the perfect time to reach for a bold color or patterned bag. If your outfit already has a lot of colors, go for a caramel brown tote bag that will balance the outfit but still capture a passerby’s attention. One of my favorite brands to buy bags/totes from is Kate Spade. Their handbags come in all different shapes and colors and honestly, I could just get lost in this store.

Dark Red Lipstick

This year, skip the classic red lipstick and go for a darker tone! It’s still red so I’m not deviating too far from the holiday but a dark red definitely spices things up a bit, am I right? I usually rarely ever/never wear dark lipstick but I’m actually pretty impressed with this dark red I cam across from Colourpop. It wasn’t extremely dark but it was dark enough to wear that people who knew me had to take a double take on my new look 😉
