Trendy Tuesdays: Spring Dresses

Hey Fashionistas,

Happy Tuesday! Today’s post is the first of my new blog series Trendy Tuesdays, where I highlight one new popular fashion trend that I’ve been noticing. If you haven’t figured it out yet, this week’s trend are spring dresses!

I’ve been reading and following more fashion bloggers lately, I’ve realized that every one of them at one point has talked about spring dresses – which makes perfect sense since it’s been feeling a lot like spring!

As a girlie girl fashionista, of course dresses are going to be a staple in my wardrobe.

Lately, I’ve really been into lace/ eyelet dresses. Pastel/ Easter color dresses are also another favorite classic spring look for me.

I’ve been really obsess with some of these Spring styles and hopefully will be able to expand my spring look soon 🙂

To find some super cute dresses, I usually shop at American Eagle, Hollister, and Express. These stores offer the perfect sizes and cuts for petite girls like me ❤

Fashionista Thoughts

What is your spring style?

What’s one trend that you’ve been noticing lately?

What’s your favorite Spring color?

Pick-me-ups of the Week

Hey Fashionistas,

It’s been pretty rainy and dreary this week which makes me…pretty sad. So naturally, I did what I always do to cheer myself up – put on something cute!

Aerosoles black ankle boots

Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world

Charming Charlie’s hot pink statement necklace

Would you expect any other color than pink to brighten up my day?

Elf Baked Eyeshadow

White Sweater Dress

Channeling my inner country girl for work

NYX Curling Mascara

J’adore the wand and how the teeth are spread out to really get to each individual eyelash!

Fashionista Thoughts

What’s one thing in your closet that is your go to pick me up?

What’s your choice of color for a rainy day?

Happy Easter!! <3 <3

Happy Easter Fashionistas!

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! What a joyous time for us to celebrate! This is only my second year celebrating Easter as a Catholic and every year it gets better and better. The Easter Vigil was beautiful as always with the church beautifully decorated and everyone dressed to the nines tens in celebrating Jesus’ resurrection and love for us – dying on the cross for our sins and rising back from the dead defeating death and forgiving us of all of our sins.

As you are probably aware from my previous post, getting to Easter can be pretty laborious but very fruitful. So let’s talk about what I learned from those 40 days of Lent – namely my 40- day Closet Challenge.

Going into this challenge was pretty intimidating and honestly, I didn’t think I was gonna last. I absolutely love my clothes…and I mean love them! My clothes are my way of expressing myself and feeling beautiful inside and out. However, I also knew that I used my clothes as a safety blanket, to cover up many of the flaws and insecurities that I had. When I felt unloved and ugly, I would use my clothes to make myself feel pretty and loved but in reality, what I needed was to accept and love myself – flaws and all. So with this challenge, I had that exactly in mind – Learn about self love and true beauty ❤

I started out pretty well (as most would expect) but started really to feel the struggles two weeks in especially when National Eating Disorder Awareness Week came around. That week was a really powerful week  for me since I have been recovering from an eating disorder for about a year and a half now. That week I did an extra challenge to learn to love myself by focusing on helping and loving others in any little way possible. However, as great as that week was, I still wasn’t feeling any changes on loving myself. It felt like I was missing something and a lot of times I thought to myself, what’s the point of this? I wasn’t feeling any different than when I started other than I was getting sick of the same old clothes. Nonetheless, I didn’t give up and I just continued the challenge hoping that maybe I’ll learn something soon. And I did….eventually… on March 4, during daily mass at the church near my work place.

The gospel reading for that day was about Love:

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
He is One and there is no other than he.
And to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself”
                          -Mark 12: 28-34

What a beautiful reading and it was exactly what I needed to hear. All this time I was trying to love myself by focusing only on myself, but in reality, the person who I had to focus on and love was God. To love myself I first had to love God with all my heart – and to love God, I had to love my neighbors – to love my neighbors, I had to love myself. The three go together and to miss one would be missing all three.  Yes – by limiting my clothes and living a more simpler life I was able to love myself but ultimately, the true love and beauty is God. GOD IS LOVE! He made me in his image and likeness because he loves me – flaws and all.

So there you have it! God is true beauty and love. So now what? Lent is over and the challenge is over. It’s time to finally celebrate! You’re probably thinking would I do this challenge again?? DEFINITELY NOT! As much as I loved learning more about how to love myself, taking away my clothes was definitely a bigger struggle than I imagined. I’m really proud of myself for sticking to it but it is something I will definitely not do again.

Fashionista thoughts:

If you participated in Lent, what was something you learned?

What did you wear on Easter?

What’s one way you love yourself and others around you?

Fashion Vlog: What’s in my Bag??

Hey Fashionistas,

It’s finally feeling like Spring and I am beyond excited for the warm weather and breezy walks during my breaks at work. I can’t wait for it to get even warmer so I can start wearing my spring dresses!

Now before I move on with the main topic, I just wanted to update you on how the 40-day closet challenge is going. Ummm…to put it in simple terms…..EXTREMELY HARD!! I miss my closet and especially with this super warm weather, I’ve been craving to wear cuter dresses and skirts. But we are getting close to Easter so I’m def going to finish strong. I also  might or might not already be planning a super cute Easter outfit already 😉

Now moving on to the main topic of this post, I just made my very first VLog!! Shout out to Alison from Daily Moves and Grooves for giving me this idea! This first VLog is all about what is in my cotton candy pink tote bag, which I use every day to go to work. I hope you all enjoy it 🙂

Song: Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman, Piano

Fashionista Thoughts:

1. What’s something you always carry around in your bag?

2. How excited are you for some Spring fashion?

3. What’s your favorite Ariana Grande song?

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter my beautiful fashionistas!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays because well…Jesus is so awesome! I mean he died for our sins and rose back to life! #IJustReallyLoveJesusssss!!! Another great thing that I love about Easter is the pretty colors everyone wears to Easter Sunday Mass!

Easter Sunday is a happy celebration, which means happy colors!! Today as I celebrated Easter with some really awesome people, I saw so many beautiful outfits ranging from pastels, florals, stripes….Ohhh it was ahhhmazing! I’ve never been more impressed with Easter fashion until today! #LookingGoodForJesus

The Beautiful Seniors celebrating Easter as a family ❤

What did I wear for Easter? I stuck to my favorite color (of course) pink! As you can tell, I was all sorts of pink. The key thing to remember is that when you’re going to wear one color, play around with the shades! I wore a blush pink eyelet dress from Forever 21, my tan ankle boots, my favorite pink Coach ponytail scarf used as a headband, white Kate Spade Bag, and to finish off the look, Apple Pink Tinted Lip Balm from Cailyn!!

#TBT Purdy Girl

Heyyy Fashionistas,

Today I’m throwing it back….wayy back to this past summer when I visited one of my favorite boutiques in NYC, Purdy Girl.

I’m sure many people can relate when I say that choosing the right outfit is sometimes harder than choosing what to make for dinner. Purdy Girl is a one-stop place where a fashionista can find an outfit for any occasion that works for day and night.

The clothes are very chic and girly. Purdy Girl sells clothes that aren’t too specific so each clothing apparel has tons of versatility. Depending on how you wear it and what you can pair it with, you can wear the outfit to multiple occasions. Need a white dress to stand out at a cocktail party? Try on the white sequined dress that Monica wore! But wait…you’re going to a garden party, you say? Wear a simple white a-line dress perfect for warm spring weather.

Monica rocking the big sequins and looking classy ❤

Ready for a garden party!! But first, let’s add in some color with my sunset-colored headband 😉

One of my favorite outfits that I tried on made me feel ready for a Fourth of July celebration.

photo (44)

Navy cut out tank top, high-waisted red shorts (inspired from Mickey Mouse?), white straw fedora with navy band

Now most outfits that I chose were more trendy but fear not! For my more simple and minimal fashionistas, there is a whole wall full of basic tees, tanktops, shorts, etc. Purdy Girl keeps all fashionistas in mind!

Basic tees, tanks, camis, etc + those gorgeous shoes ❤ #strut

Need to have an outfit that goes from day to night? You can change and play up your work outfit with the accessories section in Purdy Girl. There is a huge section right next to the changing rooms decorated with tons and tons of bracelets, necklaces, rings, and earrings. Talk about prime location! Try some clothes on and walk less than a feet away to spice up the outfit even more!

The most unique thing that popped out to me were the chandeliers. There were even gold necklaces dangling from the ceiling making it feel more like a huge walk-in closest rather than a store. The store was was bustling with customers, but the sales associates were super aware of what all the customers need. From the time I spent there, I noticed many shoppers were actually frequent customers. The store associates had established a strong relationship with them and knew immediately what they were looking for. Now that is quality customer relationship right there!

Lovee these white lace shorts!! Putting that on my list for my next shopping trip!!

Maxi dresses are best for staying breezy in the summer if you don’t want to show too much skin!

Another favorite type of top I love to wear during the summer are babydoll tops! I love the flowy feeling!

Brrr….It’s Cold in Here. There must be some Spring in the atmosphere???

Hey Fashionistas!

As you can tell from the blog title, It’s Spring and it’s still cold?? I mean it snowed 2 days ago……2 DAYS AGO!!! Can winter just please take a break or are we just skipping spring this year?

If you’re like me, you’re probably tired of winter colors and practically dying to wear some fun spring colors!! Well no worries, because you totally can!! Bring Spring into Winter!! (Even though, it’s technically already Spring….)

How do I stay warm and cute? Play up pastels with some dark colors! My go-to-pastel color is…you guessed it! Baby Pink or Blush! This Saturday snowed and I was supposed to go shopping with a couple of my friends. I had to stay warm but no way was I sacrificing cute spring colors for some snow! So I decided to keep the colors of my outfit basic but of course adding in a light blush circle scarf.

photo (36)

Staying warm in a peacoat, blush circle scarf, and my favorite Genevieve pom pom beret from Eugenia Kim!

Yesterday was a tad warmer and the sun was shining!! Yayyyy!! Since it was Palm Sunday and to add some green into my church outfit, I threw on a mint green sweater, a black skirt, my trusty blush knit circle scarf (again), warm black tights, my black boots, and (because it was super sunny) my new favorite sunglasses. I felt like a total diva in those sunglasses!

photo (39)

So there you have it! Two of my outfits that add a little more spring into this neverending winter! However, it does look like it’s gonna be a lot warmer this week so here’s hoping to showing off some spring clothes 🙂
